The Humpback Highway is a stretch of water that runs along the east coast of Australia, from Queensland to New South Wales. It is named after the humpback whales that migrate along this route each year.

Noosa and Mooloolaba are two great places to go on a whale watching trip and see the whales as they pass along the Sunshine Coast. Noosa is a 2 hour drive and Mooloolaba is a 1.5 hour drive north of Brisbane.

You can also see whales on the Sunshine Coast from shore!  The best places include:

  • Noosa: Hells Gate, Noosa National Park
  • Coolum: Point Perry or Point Arkwright, Coolum
  • Alexandra Headland
  • Kawana: Point Cartwright
  • Moffat Beach Headland
